FAQs

How do I reserve your condominium?

If you reserve directly through us, the owners, we take your booking information (dates of stay, name, address, cell phone number, number of guests in your party) and send that to our local Sanibel representative, who will handle your payment using our discounted rates.  You will then receive a detailed rental agreement from our local representative.  Your final payment will be due 45 days before your arrival date for reservations less than 21 nights, and 60 days prior to arrival for reservations 21 nights or longer and/or $8,000 or more.  If you reserve 45 days or closer to arrival, you may have to pay a larger deposit or the entire amount due for the booking.

What do I pay to reserve C-36?

The amount depends upon the rental rate for the week(s) you book, as these rates vary during the year.  If you book C-36 early enough (well before the final payment is due), you pay 20% of the rent + all rent tax + a non-refundable reservation fee of $55.75 ($50 + Florida’s 11.5% tax). Your deposit should be paid by a credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover) at the time of booking.  Final payment can be made by personal check, cashier’s check, money order, credit card, wire transfer, or e-check.  There is a credit card processing fee and a $5 e-check service fee.

Does your rate include everything?

Our rates include your nightly rent, a modest reservation fee, linens, and cleaning services upon your departure.  There is an additional 11.5% Florida Occupancy Tax charge on the total, and you must purchase a $46.83 ($42 + Florida 11.5% tax) damage insurance policy that provides up to $3,000 worth of coverage.  Many rental sites list all of these components and charge separately for each one; you’ll need to add those charges together when comparing the costs of other units to our rates.  If you book C-36 on other vacation rental sites, you will pay extra.  Some of the most popular national/international vacation sites charge a “service fee” that can amount to 2-10% of the total booking charge, which can significantly increase the cost of your vacation. If you choose to use such a site and pay more, rather than booking directly through us, we can still accept your booking.

Is there an elevator to C-36?
Yes.
Do you accept credit cards?

Yes.  Payments are processed via our local representative if you book directly with us.  Accepted are most major credit cards (American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover) and e-checks, payable in U.S. dollars.  If you book enough ahead of time, you will be asked to pay your deposit by credit card, and then pay the balance with a personal check, cashier’s check, money order, credit card (processing fee applies), wire transfer, or e-check ($5 service fee applies).

What about activities for my kids?

Pointe Santo is unique in that it offers supervised activities for children ages 4 and older Monday through Friday, for a nominal fee.  The program includes crafts with shells and other natural materials, scavenger hunts, movie night, beach volleyball, bean bag toss and other entertaining activities. In addition, offered every afternoon is an ice cream sundae or a root beer float – for both the kids and their parents! Most parents/grandparents stop by the Clubhouse and sign up their children for the activities, which are pre-scheduled early in the week.  Walk-ins are accepted based on availability.

Are pets allowed?

Sorry, but pets are prohibited in C-36.  The Pointe Santo Condo Association specifically prohibits guests from bringing animals, and we hope our guests will adhere to this policy.  Many condo owners stay at the complex throughout the year, and they watch for “illegal” animals.  If found, the animal AND the humans will be evicted immediately.  No payments or partial payments will be returned, including the damage deposit, which will be used to professionally clean the carpets and upholstery.

Can I smoke on the lanai?

Smoking is NOT ALLOWED on the lanai or anywhere in the condo.  It isn’t allowed on the building walkways, or the grounds, except at a few designated smoking areas out by the street, adjacent to the parking lots.  If you see (or smell) smoke, please contact Pointe Santo’s Security personnel.

What is your cancellation policy?

Should you need to cancel, our local Sanibel agent’s cancellation policy is:

90+ days prior to arrival:  You will receive your deposit back, but will lose your non-refundable reservation fee ($55.75) and a $55.75 cancellation fee, for a total of $111.50.

Less than 90 days prior to arrival: You risk losing all money put down unless we are able to re-book the unit for the same price and dates.  Should another booking occur, you will be charged only the reservation fee and cancellation fee.

We encourage you to purchase travel insurance if you are concerned about a possible medical or other personal emergency.   Our Sanibel agent offers optional travel insurance or you can select from one of the online companies.

Do I have to pay for a parking permit while at Pointe Santo?

No.  Our deeded parking space is located behind Building C and close to the elevator.  A free parking permit will be provided to you when you arrive (inside the unit).  If for some reason you don’t get a permit, you can pick one up at the Pointe Santo Operations/Information Office located near the tennis courts.  Please note that no RVs, trailers, jet skis or boats are allowed at Pointe Santo.  There are a few “guest” parking spots on the Pointe Santo grounds, but they are first-come, first-served so you can’t always count on having one.

What are your check-in and check-out policies?

Our check-in and check-out times assume Saturday arrivals and departures.  Check-in on Saturdays is at 3 PM, to allow the cleaning staff to clean our unit after the previous guests’ departure.  Check-out is Saturday at 10 AM.  If you have some free time before check-in, you can always stop at the grocery store, or find a Visitor parking space at Pointe Santo and change into your swimsuits (in the restrooms at Pointe Santo’s clubhouse by the pool), to take a swim before 3 PM.  Or you can walk along the beach, and start on that shell collection!

Is there a grocery store nearby?

There were 2 before Hurricane Ian (September, 2022).  There is currently only 1: Jerry’s Foods-Sanibel at 1700 Periwinkle Way, adjacent to a tropical garden and other stores in Jerry’s Shopping Center.  Jerry’s will deliver and also has a restaurant right inside its grocery store with daily specials. (239-472-9300; www.jerrysfoods.com)  The 2nd store, Bailey’s General Store, will return once it is rebuilt.  Located at 2477 Periwinkle Way, it was within walking distance to Pointe Santo, and also delivered groceries.
